TopoZone Maps.

Topozone offers online topo maps using scanned USGS Quad maps. Just enter a location and you are taken to it. You can enlarge the map on screen and the program offers sevearl resolutions.

You can also use one of three series of USGS maps (for more or less detail). When you have the area you want mapped, for a fee you can download the USGS map or an aerial photo.

Include Tiger Map on Your Page.

This is a pretty detailed job, but all the instructions are there. It explains how to build a URL with all the options selected that can be placed in your html page to call a Tiger Map just as you would place a picture on a page.

How to download a map.

It works a little backwards. Type in a county name -- unless you already know the quad name or the latitude longtitude -- Then when the list of quads comes up, choose one from the first column .

On the next page is a map. Find the square you want an aeiral of. For Instance A4. Find the quad name under A4 (or yor square) use the back button to go back and choose that quad. Now unfortunately, that square you chose is is dvided into four quads. They are list at the bottom of this page now (skip the map this time) Choose either the 1meter hyperlink or the 2.5 meter hyperlink. The 1 meter is obviously a bigger file becuse it has more detail -- each pixel in the picture represents 1 meter).

Downloading the browser plug in : The data is in a highlly compressed software format and you need a MrSid viewer to see it. You can navigate the TNRIS website for the software links or go directly to LizardTech Software's download page for Window. after you have downloaded the ExpressView file, run it to install it in your browser(s). You will now be able to load the quad file(s) you downloaded into your browser and pan, zoom etc. )
